Apple Board of Directors
Topic Summary
An Apple a Day? The Byte into Healthcare
This committee, examining Apple’s rollout of health technologies, has the potential to engage with topics such as wearable health technologies, AI’s role in synthetic biology and bioweapon development, organoid intelligence, and patient privacy in an increasingly data-driven world. Some possible crises include a large-scale data privacy breach on Apple health systems, an FDA rejection of an Apple health device, a whistleblower leakage of internal documents or communications, or an AI-based misinformation or misdiagnosis pattern in a product, for instance. It may also be interesting to have a “live” stock market tracker that delegates would need to respond to in real time, a press conference or public statements component that the Board submits at certain points to address public concerns, and a product development or proposal portion.
Meet your Director!
Dear Delegates,
My name is Sophia Lichterfeld, and I am thrilled and honored to serve as your director for the Apple Board of Directors committee at HMUN Australia 2026! I am excited to get to know all of you in preparation for and throughout the conference and for the intriguing topics we will explore in committee. I am originally from Massachusetts, and, at Harvard, I study Applied Mathematics with a focus in Economics and a secondary in Global Health and Health Policy.
I participated in Model UN throughout high school, and was incredibly eager to continue my Model UN journey once arriving on campus. These past two years, I have assistant directed and directed at both HMUN and HNMUN in General Assembly and Specialized Agencies committees while also joining Harvard’s Intercollegiate Model UN team. Over the summer, I also had the fantastic opportunity to direct the ECOFIN General Assembly committee at HMUN China 2025, and this coming May, I have the absolute privilege of serving as your Director for the Apple Board of Directors Specialized Agency at HMUN Australia 2026!
Beyond MUN, I am the Publisher of the Harvard Political Review, part of the Harvard Undergraduate Foreign Policy Initiative, and I play the violin in chamber groups for Harvard MIHNUET (Music in Hospitals and Nursing Homes Using Entertainment as Therapy). I also enjoy trying out new cafes, going on runs along the Charles River, and playing card games with friends.
I am ecstatic for you to share and debate your ideas for this committee, and please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions around the structure or topic of the committee. I wish you all the best in your preparation, and see you in May!
Sincerely,
Sophia Lichterfeld
Chair of Apple Board of Directors
